I am J.J. Brookshire, and I am running for the position of Chairman of the Republican Party in Ellis County, marking the first time this has occurred in over a decade. With over 21 years as a member of the Reserve, I have successfully grown companies, including one that expanded from $4.3 million to over $32 million in just two years, leading to a successful IPO.
In December 2009, I was ordered to Active Duty in support of the Global War on Terrorism. My experience includes serving as a Deputy Registrar, Elections Judge, Precinct Chair, Senate District Delegate, State Delegate, and Panelist on the Appraisal Review Board. My recent political involvement has been limited due to my service on Active Duty as an Operations NCO, Career Counselor, Special Missions NCO, and Area Leader over the last 15+ years. As of September 1, I retired as a Master Sergeant, thus removing these limitations.
Over the past nine years, I have listened to community leaders in Ellis County express concerns about the disunity among Republican voters. On my way back from Ft. Hood, where I received my final DD 214, I received a text expressing these sentiments: 'Just to be clear, I don't expect you to do anything. Just wanted you to know how I feel...' The Soldier in me makes it difficult to stand by without taking action, especially if I believe I can make a positive difference. If elected as Chairman, I will bring the innovative leadership needed to grow our base, engage voters, and unite conservatives across Ellis County.
